Here's how we got started
The beginning of the road
The origins of the Powrwheel product, the motorised jockey wheel, started life back in the 1990’s.
Things developed slowly over those early years until 2000 when Powrwheel Ltd, the company, was formed.
This was followed very quickly with the birth of the Powrtouch range of movers, and the very first remote controlled Powrtouch mover was sold in January 2001
The company and brand grew very rapidly over the next several years to establish itself as the market leading caravan mover brand in the UK. This attracted the attention of Truma, and subsequently Powrwheel was bought by them in 2008.
Truma immediately recognised the strength of the Powrtouch brand and allowed us to continue to grow and develop as we had prior to the ownership change.
This was the year that Powrwheel Ltd moved into the Truma UK HQ in Derbyshire, although remaining a separate organisation under Truma ownership.
Almost all UK dealers recommend the Powrtouch brand, something we are very proud of. Our Truma owners recognised this and wanted to align the Powrtouch brand closer to their own Truma brand.
Therefore in this year the decision was made that Powrwheel Ltd and Truma UK Ltd should merge to form Truma Limited. The Powrtouch brand and the Truma brand will continue to live on at the forefront of the industry, with both brands being fully supported by the owners.
